UPDATE-O-RAMA SUPER DELUXE OVER 9,000
I’ve recently been pushing myself to get more involved with the Photography community– locally, nationally, and internationally. “International” maybe sounds a bit too grandiose, but it’s more or less true. I’ve been a member of Fearless Photographers for some time now, but just recently I was accepted into two more Professional Wedding Photography groups. I’ve been humbled by the warm welcoming from other Raleigh Wedding Photographers as well as Charlotte Wedding Photographers and those from all over 🙂
The WPS is a Raleigh native group founded by Raleigh’s very own Christobal Perez, founder and owner of Azul Photography ( http://www.azulphotography.com ). The WPS contains some incredibly bright and creative minds. I’m very happy to have joined them and am looking forward to attending our next event.
From the WPS site:
“The Wedding & Portrait Society (WPS) is a network of professional photographers who share ideas, thoughts and information to help raise the artistic, technical and business level in our profession.”
The ISPWP is an international society that is widely regarded for their expansive host for incredible talent. Their extensive admissions review means that photographers have to prove their worth by much more than just submitting a few images. They require a review of at least 3 full weddings, recommendations from 2 clients and 2 working professional photographers, and then they vote from a panel of current members. Somewhat daunting, but overwhelmingly gratifying when I received my admissions confirmation 🙂
From the ISPWP site:
“The International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP) is a rarity among wedding photography organizations. Photographers cannot simply buy an ISPWP membership, they have to earn it.
Our requirements are experience, talent, and professionalism. To be accepted, a photographer must have shot at least 50 weddings, submit their portfolio for review, agree to operate under the ISPWP Code of Conduct, and have an ISPWP Sponsor or four references. And THEN they have to be voted in by current members.
In short, when you hire an ISPWP Photographer, you are hiring a talented veteran with a track record, peer recognition, and a passion for creating heirloom images of your wedding.”
So that’s that! There’s been a LOT more going on in the Paul Seiler Photography camp, but I wanted to share these milestones since I’m both humbled and proud (I know, oxymoron) to have received these approvals and am continuing my journey and growth as a professional in this wonderful industry.
Thank you, always.
